Question For Cake Makers
Hi Everyone
Another question from me this week! If you are decorating a false cake (one of the polystyrene ones), do you still have to buttercream it to get the fondant to stick? I feel like this should be an easy answer, but equally I haven’t a clue! I’ve 3 x 12” deep ones to ice and decorate, but having never used them before, I didn’t know if the buttercream was needed or not. Don’t want to waste money on ingredients I don’t need. Thanks in Advance Gill

Warm. The jam gently to make it easier to work with and use a paint brush rather than a knife to spread it

You can just use water and the fondant will stick, just dont over wet it or the fondant will go too slimy

Thanks so much everyone!
So I definitely don’t have to make more buttercream? Just jam or water will work?

I’d use water. And as said above, not too much.
Have used it in the past with success. |
