Avis Class Action

We got the postcard today, too. I nearly pooped myself at the words "class action" addressed to my hubby, I wondered what on earth we'd done! I thought the one time we ran a toll booth years ago due to lack of cash had finally caught up with us! Then I read it through and relaxed a bit. Phew. Although I don't expect we will end up with any money, I only ever got frightened into buying additional insurance once and that was probably in the 1990s at some point. I never fell for that one again and always made sure I pre-paid for any insurances after that. But hey ho, you never know, and a bit of unexpected cash would be awfully welcome after the year we've all had!

We got the postcard too. On looking at t’internet it seems that USRentacar were mentioned as being agents - the case has nothing to do with them, it was the car companies who said they provided insurance, but actually hadn’t. From my understanding, Budget/Avis charged for SLi but didn’t actually purchase it from the insurance company so drivers (particularly UK tourists were mentioned) were actually not covered. Have I got the jist of it?

We got three post cards - one for us two for random strangers at completely different addresses!🤔

DH got a letter yesterday saying they have reached a settlement now and there will be a payment of $6.51 plus interest per day of hire and presumably minus fees. He has to file a claim, but he has his doubts about the relatively small amount due versus having his email address and details out there on a list of claimants. He's going to do more research before filing a claim.
