Has anyone ever visited WDW but stopped in New York for a couple of nights on the way? Any advice on the best way to book this with flights etc?

Hi Brum, check out multi-city options on the airline of choice site, or an online/high street TA

There's two ways to book the flights.

Either book an open jaw return (using the multi-city option on flights) with inbound to New York then return from Orlando. Then book a domestic flight separately from New York to Orlando with any carrier of your choice.

Or use the multi city option to book all three flights as a single trip. The internal flight will be on the domestic partner airline for whichever airline you're choosing for the Transatlantic component, e.g. for BA it will more than likely be an American Airlines flight.

Neither has a particular advantage over the other, I would normally choose whichever is the cheaper of the two. Although with the ongoing Covid issues, I may be tempted to do the second option to have all flights on a single ticket in case of cancellations.

I'd also probably bundle my New York hotel with the flights (using custom trip on BA, I think you'd have to phone Virgin) to create a package so it was deposit only. And then book the WDW part separately direct with WDTC.

We did NYC and Orlando in summer 2017. I booked the trip using BA customise your trip.

Flight out of LHR into JFK.
4 nights hotel at the Sheraton Times Square in NYC.
Flight from JFK to MCO.
10 nights at Rosen Inn International I drive.
Flight from MCO via MIA back to LHR.

This cost £2831 for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 10.

On BA you don't have to add in hotels if you want to book them elsewhere, you can do hotels for part of the trip, all of the trip or none of the trip. It's a really flexible system and allows you to see all sorts of options.

Maybe other airlines offer a similar thing but I've stuck with BA as it was easy to use and possible to adjust the date and compare prices or select a different hotel or indirect flights and see if the price changed.
