I agree - Alicia Keys is great, but not for NYE. The BBC ...in their infinite wisdom... have been choosing downbeat on BBC1 for a few years now. Their last really uplifting NYE concert (IMO) was Adam Lambert & Queen.
Luckily  , Jools took a different approach over on 2. He actually mentioned "joy and a boogie" (if I recall correctly). I'm surprised he was allowed!

We watched and I enjoyed it but I was suprised they didn’t do old Lang syne after the fireworks. We were stood ready to sing and she launched into New York. Confused the heck out of us!

I enjoyed when Madness seen in NYD but it’s hard to perform party hits when you got no crowd. It also wrong having Alica Keys to see in the new year from Los Angeles when it’s 4pm.
