:) Disneyland in december

Hi

I am 'hoping' that disneyland may be open in december this year and that we are allowed into the country by then, i have never been to america in the winter time before and want to try it out. i have never been to disneyland before either. is it decorated in christmas decorations at the beginning of december? do they do any special events like WDW do for Christmas?

I figured it is a nice time to go and won't be to hot in december there?

Thanks again

Sophie

We’ve been in mid November and the weather was really nice

They overlay the Haunted Mansion with Nightmare Before Xmas and it is AMAZING!

They did a Xmas special of World of Color (I absolutely love World Of Color) and I hated it so much we left the park. But I’m sure if you like Xmas you’ll enjoy it! I was just grumpy I didn’t get the one I was looking forward to!

Christmas decorations everywhere as you’d expect

I am also thinking of December for a bit of a California road trip, including a couple of days at Disneyland if it is open. I have been to Disneyland in October and it is a lovely park so I am sure you will have a great time. It is a lot less busy in the week as all the locals go at the weekend so it is worth being aware of that in your planning.

December weather can be a mixed bag from year to year. As megaflyer was talking about, we have had a couple of very rainy Decembers recently, but this winter has been very dry. I think we have only had rain once since Thanksgiving. Temperatures last month stayed in the 60’s and 70’s during the day, with nights much cooler. Southern California is supposed to get into the 80’s this weekend.

As far as how busy Disneyland will be in December if they hopefully reopen this year, I think you have to factor in the unusual situation we have been in. Speaking as a local (living in the San Diego area), I know a lot of people here are anxious to get back to Disneyland after it’s been closed for almost a year now. I predict the parks will be much busier than normal the first year after reopening- unless Disneyland has to control capacity for awhile and maybe use reservations to get in like WDW has been doing.
