Wow, DVC all booked up (nearly) for 30/9 and 1/10
It’s going to be busy for the anniversary.
All DVC studios are gone, even SSR, OKW and all rooms entirely gone in every category aside from some 1 beds at OKW and SSR. I’ve never seen anything approaching that at 11 months. Suppose it was expected but I didn’t expect it all to go so quickly.

Yes lots of those and even one/two beds went at Bay Lake and Animal kingdom on opening day for those dates
I had been watching walkers as I have a trip now booked for later in October and I assumed they were all just walking for the anniversary, but I admit that I jumped on the walking straight after the anniversary as I wasn’t sure how many people might also be walking through for (hopeful!) food and wine/Christmas parties - as it was availability then opened right back up, but I did get myself a little worked up, as if I had been hoping for an anniversary booking for the rooms I wanted I’d never of got it even with walking as I hadn’t looked early enough. It’s going to be crazy busy that week and weekend I reckon, but I’m hoping it will die down by the time we get there! 😂 |

YT. Regarding SSR (Preferred) they were available a few days ago for those 2 dates as I amended our Oct/Nov booking and had a mooch for all dates to check how they were doing
As per today the 31st Dec and 1st Jan were unavailable but that's been the case for a while. Even the 13th/14th Feb had become available having previously been sold out. One wonders if it's the vaccine and all the publicity surrounding it that is giving people more confidence to book? Glad to say we wont be there for those critical dates as it will be nuts!

Most were gone before 11 months due to walkers. Felt really lucky (& relieved) to get a 1 bed at BCV.
I want to change my booking around into chunks to use up the 2020 points first so I can bank my 2021 points but I'm too scared to mess around with it as demand is so high.

Think it must be the vaccine effect for Christmas and NY this year.
Are you going for 50th anniversary, I take it no? I’d love to, particularly given I was born within hours of WDW opening, but with kids in school not possible for us. I’ll be there the 60th!

We are taking the Granddaughter on that trip so have to work around half term hence we arrive on the 17th October. Will still be crazy I suspect but not insane!
Edit. Seems Virgin haven't picked up on it as there are a shed load of Miles flights available around those critical dates.

I missed a trick here- I should have booked multiple studios to rent out- expect having seen this they will go for a very chunky premium. I have booked a 1 bed for the two nights in SSR, I reckon $20 - $25 a point for that I will be asking. Will pay a decent chunk of dues off.

I think, if you talk to member services, they can reallocate the points so that 2020 points are taken first but not sure if it works if you want to switch to non home resort points at 7 months.

A rare circumstance where owning at SSR is perhaps a better option- at least you didn't have to worry about walking to get some room, although you still had to be on the ball to get a studio. I dread to think how far in advance they were walking Copper Creek studios- one of my favourite resorts but that is proving to be a real issue on studios in peak periods even for owners. Well done to everyone who secured a room- I had my eye totally off the ball on this. Have just waitlisted an SSR studio. If our VGF booking for Easter is cancelled, I may have excess banked points and its an easy cash in.
