Totally agree with this. The sacrifices made by patients, staff and families should not be wasted.
As an aside, did your DIL change her mind with her cake business in the end Helen? It sounded great for her

Thank you all for your input and views.
I know what the family think/ how things are going to proceed, just wanted other opinions/views.
There is such a wealth of experience on here it helps to get independent opinions.

She’s gone part time as a carer to just one client doing one full 24 hour shift to fit in with her business and intends to stop that as soon as this is all over
She just couldn’t do another 4/5 months away from home full time

Aaah I’m glad about that. It was so tough for her living in

That was one of my comments. At least they had the windows open for ventilation.

If she is in Scotland then no non essential work can be done inside the home. Tradesmen can only do essential repairs.

I would be furious in your position. Totally unacceptable risk. The only works that should be going on is if it is absolutely essential i.e. no heating/electricity, dangerous fault, water leak etc. Painting is not essential. The cynic in me would be wondering whether they were getting a cheap rate for it being done while during lockdown with not much other work about.
