Virgin Atlantic charge back

Just an update for people in the same position:-

we had paid extra for 'bubble seats' for our original September 2020 booking, which has subsequently changed to Feb 2021.

we were told a refund would be given for this back in May... no sign of a refund.

called my credit card company, funnily enough a Virgin money air miles card. Withing 5 working days i have claimed the money back along with a credit for inconvenience.

anyone putting off doing a charge back - go and do it asap!

good luck.

I’ve asked for a chargeback too for bubble seats, I’m still waiting to hear back from my bank and they’ve told me it could take up to 45 working days.

Definitely - we did exactly the same and received a statement credit plus £50 for inconvenience. It was a very simple process after chasing VA around for weeks.

I was a little dubious at first, but very happy we did it..

Same here got fed up with the lack of response from VA, completed online chargeback form and within 10 days had refund of bubble seats.
Still waiting for refund of fares, for seven people, and have provided bank with additional information.

I was very pleasantly surprised re my chargeback on my VA Credit card.

Our July 2020 flights were cancelled in early June, informed by VA that I would have to wait up to 120 days for my refund...

Thought about going down the MCOL route but did not like the idea of having to shell out over £400 to lodge my claim etc

So I waited for our travel date to pass and completed the VA CC online chargeback form on the 17th July. I did not expect to hear much back and presumed I would be chasing them for months on end. However my account was credited over the weekend and I am told that I can transfer the funds to my bank account immediately.

So it took about three weeks from completing the form.

They have definitely improved then, they would not touch my claim until 90 days and even then didn’t do anything, I had rubbish service

I did chargebacks - 1 for virgin atlantic (flights) and one for virgin holidays (car hire).
So far I have had 5 refunds: 1 for the flights and 2 for the car hire from the credit card company, and 1 for the flight and 1 for the car hire from the virgin companies. Three or 4 phone calls to the CC company later, they have recovered one chargeback and my CC is showing over -£4000. What a bu&&er's muddle.

And the muddle has been exacerbated by you putting in multiple claims. Is it any wonder claims are taking a long time?
