In not just Trumps silly comments, if you watch the rally, it’s hundreds of uneducated bigoted people chanting send them back. Florida is a huge Trump supporter so I can understand the OPs hesitancy in wanting to visit this kind of environment.

I certainly do, so much so that I remarked to my DH today that our next trip may be our last for a while and not because I have concerns for our personal safety.

Totally agree, we had almost completed planning out an East Coast road trip for next year but after watching the despicable footage of the rally are now rethinking. Doing West Coast road trip this year but they seem to have more sense there than other areas.

I would also add that the political upheaval in this Country, combined with all the pro and anti Brexit marches may also make the UK look unstable to outsiders. Yet we go about our daily lives in relative safety. The same is true of the USA.

Florida voted 49.02% Trump and 47.82% Clinton.

Orange County voted >60% for Clinton so not huge Trump state at all.

That said, the whole rhetoric behind the comments he made about the 4 congresswomen is abhorrent imo

I'm saddened by the willingness of posters freely using insults such as 'moron', 'redneck', 'bigot' and 'uneducated' to describe and condemn those who hold different views from them. I'd wager none would be prepared to utter those comments to the actual people face to face.

I’m sorry if my post offended. That was honestly not my intention. I don’t watch TV so rely on the radio and online papers for news reports, although I have little faith in the accuracy of the latter. I will be going to Orlando in September and was concerned that something had happened that wasn’t/hadn’t been reported.

I agree with your point, language can be so utterly devisive.

I wonder also of those chanting "Send her back" would chant the same to the faces of Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
