There are some good flight deals out there and I have been tempted too. Insurance issues have stopped me booking though. Too much risk for me.

I think if it is covered by the confidence guarantee, and everything else is fully cancellable, and you are comfortable with the risk then why not. Lovely to have the idea of a gateway to look forward to.
Our insurance covers everything except cancellation due to Covid. It’s a calculated risk as the BA guarantee is one of the better ones out there.

Having had 4 trips cancelled now, all booked with BA, I’m happy to book with them as their service has been excellent.

I know in all likelihood it’ll be cancelled but if it is I’ll get a refund. If I choose to cancel I’ll take the voucher.

If we still can’t fly anywhere to use it by April 2022 then we have much bigger issues than loosing some money on flights.

Enjoy the planning and I hope you have an amazing trip!
We’ve got a cruise from Miami too but I can’t find any decent flight prices. Almost double what I had for last year... what dates/airports are you looking at? Thanks

Sounds like a plan. Our insurance will only cover bookings made when no fco guidance against travel is in place. Frustrating as we swapped our Greek holiday before lost it and thought we would be covered as long as it wasn’t in place when we tried to travel. But nope! Never mind. Fingers crossed.

We have lost two holidays completely so wanted to have a glimmer of a possibility to look forward to.

I have always rated ba customer service. It is good to hear they are being so supportive now too. Hope you get away as planned.

Not mad at all. Our insurance is the same as FamilyGWales or I’d be tempted to book with BA for summer next year.

Not mad in the slightest, we are just back from Italy and most people thought I had lost the plot by travelling, it was brilliant! Since we got back I have booked NY for Feb as my daughters school trip to there next month was cancelled. If we don’t go we will reschedule.

i was reasonably confident about my May booking but it feels each day like it isn't going to happen (my issue is we wont go if masks are required- i am not as worried about the borders being open, if they are still closed 14 months after this all kicked off then we have serious issues)

Same mind frame as you. I just moved my tickets to NYE as prices were ridiculously low .. happy to receive another voucher if delayed again so we shall see 🤞🏽

Well, April 2021 doesn't seem too far in the future, but I'm waiting to book a family holiday next August 2021, which is only 4 months later.

I'm sure by next August 2021 things will be different, at least a vaccine and less new cases. However, who can be sure? But the thought of no holidays for years to come is just inconceivable, so the plunge must be taken at some point!

I'm booking with BA as we have a voucher with them. For your situation they are promising free changes up until next Easter, so no, I don't think you're mad.
