sorry another insurance question

I haven't bought insurance for our May trip yet as we have only paid a small deposit (will do it if we decide to go and when the balance is due). I have just had a look out of curiosity to see if it has gone up from last year and the price has quadrupled, think we paid £60 last year for the two of us. Is this likely due to the Covid situation or the fact that the borders are closed to America at the moment? Is it likely to come down when the borders open or is this another new norm we have to deal with?

Not sure on the cost but before buying check carefully that it gives you cancellation cover.

Most will not cover at the moment as FCO advice in place.

Pretty sure the answer in reality is no holiday insurers will provide cancellation insurance with FCO advice in place.

Please be very careful of 'Staysure'. Their telephone advisors appear to be telling people that if they book now they will have cancellation insurance, however if you read the policy it clearly isn't the case and it's only true if FCO advice changes, which is no different to the majority of providers.
