Thanks for the reply and glad your son enjoys his job.
Does he have set hours or are they different every week and how far in advance does he get his rota? I've been told they employ for 20 hours which isn't enough for me so will be happy to pick up another 10-15 hours in overtime. Sorry for the questions I'm just really undecided on what to do if they do offer me a job.

If offered would take it, try it, see how it fits. If it doesn't then move on... The advent of minimum wage has made a lot more jobs "disposable", less loyalty amongst staff, more fluidity between jobs. Short periods of employment don't seem to count against people any more which is good.

Morning everyone.
Just a bit of an update. I had my interview last Tuesday which went really well. The lady who interviewed me will be the store manager (it's a brand new store she currently manages a store a couple of miles from where I live ) and she was so nice and addressed all my concerns. So this morning I've had a call offering me the job and I've decided to take it, my view is it can't be any worse than where I am now and she has confirmed I can have Monday's off as I look after our granddaughter. I'm going to write my notice out today and pop to work tomorrow to hand it in which means I'll have a couple of weeks off before starting my new job
