FAO all those who have driven from LA to Vegas

We have our hotel in Vegas booked for 25th & 26th October. A couple of nights ago I checked the Seeing Stars website and read that 25th October is the 26th Annual Love Ride loveride/...We would really love to include this and wondered if we left Pomona at around 4pm would we be leaving it too late to get to Vegas.
Sometimes planning early does you no good at all

If memory serves me right the journey from Pomona to Las vegas takes about 4 hours. They are strict about speeding and have 'eyes in the sky' to catch you out. watching the link I can understand why you wouldn't want to miss 'love ride'. It looks sooo cool
Las Vegas comes alive at night so it depends on how tired you will be from the days events.

We did Vegas to Hollywood in about 4 hours 30 mins driving time. I loved the drive some great scenery.

The only thing to watch out for is going to Vegas on a Friday can be bad as a lot of people head out to vegas for the weekend and going back to LA on a Sunday as they all head back.

There is a great place to stop about half way between vegas and LA called Peggy Sues 50's diner. We chanced up on it on the way there and made a point of calling in on the way back. You will see the signs much better than the chain restraunts at the other service areas

Sarah, we are driving from LAX to LV straight away after getting off our flight. I just put the addresses into Google maps and it gives you a estimated drive time.

I would'nt recommend you don't drive all the way from LAX to LV after getting off the flight unless you are one of those people who can sleep for hours and hours on the plane. You will be exhausted and the time difference will play havoc with your body clock.

A couple of years back we drove from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe straight off the flight - it was the most scariest and down right dangerous drives we have ever done. How we got there in one piece I will never know.

If I was you I would either have a stopover in LA or break the journey up and stay somewhere about half way to Las Vegas.

We have to now as our hotel is booked in LV for the day we get off the flight. I am fortunate as I can sleep on the plane, but DH doesn't.

There are also the 2 of us to share the driving.

We stopped of here on our way to Vegas! Its like stepping back in time isnt it! Did you go in the shop selling all the nick-nacks? Its a good place to stop as its about half way, isnt it in Barstow? where you can see the worlds biggest thermometer!
