It's not just TOT though, RRC only shows availability for 6pm. It's pretty much the same for all parks. I was amazed that Mission Space also showed no morning availability, the first being 3pm. And that's not a particularly popular experience.

My only worry with the tap and grab system is that there are 5 of us in the party, so it's less likely that we will be able to grab fast passes for all of us. But you're right, it will occupy us in the queue.

The old system seemed to work really well. I never really understood why they changed it.
I found paper FP a pain. I felt you were always trailing across the park to get a FP for later then back to where you wanted to be. And don’t get me started on the mad rush to get to Toy Story Mania so you could get a FP for a time you knew you’d still be in the park! Give me FP+ any day over that. Of course I stay onsite so have the benefit of 60 day FP. Not sure how I’d feel at 30 days.

I haven’t got FPS for ToT, SDD or FoP so am a bit cheesed off too. I do, however, have 2 for SDMT but they are both 8pm - the second ones we may cancel as that would be our third visit to MK o not entirely sure we will be going but I wouldn’t just leave them ‘hanging’, I would cancel them on the day if we are not going so hoping there will be other people like us dong that.

We are here now. Had no luck getting FP for ToT and the queues were ridiculous the day we were there... 165 minutes at 9.30! Then looked at going another day and it was non operational. Will have one more try later this week. Very disappointed by Hollywood Studios generally - our favourite things have gone (it’s not a studio now with no backlot tour or street settings) , new things not yet open, ridiculous queue length and some parts now looking dated
Having said that we were lucky with FP for Avatar about a week before we came away and that was Superb

Hmm, so I guess to answer my own question regarding why they changed it, I'm left with that cynical voice in my head telling me it was to get more people to stay onsite and use the 60 day benefit.

The big (and necessary) part of this great Florida experience is planning, planning. planning. But this whole system messes that up completely. You really have no fixed idea what and when you will be doing certain rides.

I hate to say this, but we nearly didn't get the 14 day Disney pass. In the end we thought no, we can't go to Orlando and not do Disney. Now I'm actually beginning to wonder again.

So 12 pm on Wednesday I'll do my best. I remember pre FP+ we would get on our favourite TOT and RRC several times in a day. Oh the old days...

Yeah that's heartening, but no matter what day I seem to choose, there are no TOT slots at all in the coming weeks, and only evening RRC. I must be missing something...

We are a party of 7 (2 ad, 5 kids) so I split into 2 smaller groups. Took any time for Mon then went into Modify and kept refreshing the times until better ones came up. Did this the night before for MK too and worked a treat.

Have a look at the DIBB’s Fastpass Availability pages, either this one which shows those rides with limited availability on one easy-to-read page:

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho...d.php?t=835236

Or this one which allows you to select each park and then each day and shows what’s available in that park on that day:

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/fas...ailability.php

From the above, at HS it’s only Slinky Dog Dash and Tower of Terror that have no availability at 30 days. You should be able to get fastpasses for RnRC (although only for the afternoon). ToT is difficult to get at the moment because of the limited capacity. SDD is difficult to get because it’s the most recent and hyped ride in that park at the moment.

Looking at the fastpass availability across WDW as a whole, it appears that it’s only 4 rides you will struggle to get any fastpasses for - ToT, SDD, SDMT, and FOP. About 90% of attractions are available. I remember back in the day finding paper fastpasses for rides like Toy Story Mania and Soarin’ incredibly difficult to get unless you got the the park really early.

Unfortunately the FP system is designed that way to "promote" the 60 day window, just be glad that we are getting any of them for free, as I don't think it is too far away before everyone will have to pay for them! The onsite "advantage" is in the 60 day availability pre se but in the ability to book 14 days worth at a time- the earliest 7DMT for our first day was 5:25 & on a day with a 6:00pm close but even that's better than last year where I could get nothing before 60+5.
I wasn't really paying attention to ToT tbh as our HS plan is TSM then standby for RNRCC & ToT
