Just take it one day at a time, start with day 1 and work out what you're going to do and make the arrangements for it, that way it won't seem such a huge task. You're not allowed to move onto the next day until you've sorted the current day out though!

Don't worry I think California takes a lot less planning than Orlando, I actually found it a lot less stressful and we're hoping to go again in a year or two.

I am staying at this hotel in October. I chose it because of the reviews on trip advisor plus because it has cooking facilities. Don't plan on doing much cooking but at least we will have that option if we don't fancy going out to eat.
We don't mind a 20 minute walk to get to disney. Being non drivers we are used to doing quite a bit of walking.

Here's our list of things to do in LA and SD. I have a DS who's 10. He likes rides though, so we will no doubt have to do six flags or Knotts. I don't for a minute think that we will do all of this, but we can decide how we feel nearer the time.

La
Disney
Universal
Hollywood - Chinese theatre, Disney soda fountain, stars homes tours, Griffiths park and observatory, Garnd Union Train Station, Natural History Museum, Tarr Pitts, Petterson Auto Museum.
Beach - Have a look at a woody tour.
Warner Bros studi tour - harry Potter
Pacific coast highway.
farmers market

SD
Lego Land
SW
Zoo
Waterpark Chula Vista
Coronado Island and ferry
harbour tour
Gaslamp district
USS Midway
Belbo Park
Old Town Trolly tour

I am thinking of getting a go San Diego card for 5 days, as I already have a citpass for LA.

Good guide books. Unoffical guide to disnelyland, Frommers Los Angeles day by day and also Top 10 to San Diego, this was sent to me by Nickiandrewthank you so much.

Hope this helps
