Best Car Hire from Miami MIA
We arrive in Miami airport on a Friday afternoon in October. Will be driving onto Orlando area and staying for two weeks (We have just had a cancelled accommodation in Southern Florida so Orlando is an unexpected change but we are pleased with the change).
Normally we book our car hire with Dollar, but never been to MIA before. Who are best to hire with? Will be wanting a premium SUV or a mini-van. Thanks John |

By popular consensus amongst Dibbers (I'll post the poll if you like) Alamo leads by a country mile from Avis and Hertz. Popular because you can skip the counter and choose your car. It's also the best Sunpass scheme.
Try Alamo Brits direct or good brokers such as DFCH (link in banner above), usrentacar or Virgin Atlantic. All four will also include all the insurances you need. As will other UK sites I might add but I've had no personal experience. Mick

You'll want to avoid Dollar as you'd have to use their automated tolling system as many of the toll roads in and around Miami and on the way to Orlando are cashless. Dollar charge $52.49 per week..
Best stick to Alamo imo.. $3.95 per usage day capped at $19.75. Plus tolls. |

Just to add that you have to take a short monorail journey from the MIA terminal to the car garage. A bit like the monorail at MCO.

Hired from both Avis and Alamo at MIA. Both very quick service as had already signed up and sorted the skip the counter. Got a better car through Avis as they had to upgrade as none available that we’d booked but liked the ability to choose with Alamo. Albeit with DH, myself and two kids liking different ones at first, it came down to one with most leg room in the back and biggest boot space
