Hi. They appear on your account within a week roughly after you get home.
I have always had 1000 Miles for the booking and double Miles for the rental cost. So a £550 rental gives 1100 Miles and the 1000 mentioned earlier.

This trip though I am with Brits so can't update on this one.

Thanks - will see how much I have to chase as mine was through VH, I did get them to put my Flying Club number on the booking.

We used Virgin for Alamo car hire in LA last year as they were the cheapest.
Is Avis in the Airport like Alamo is?

Yes all the big providers are except sixt who are off site.
I wouldn't let it put you off though it's very easy to get to them and they are as good as the others to use.

i second the above any body except dollar / thrifty price is uasually the deciding factor

my preferred is budget but the rest of my family prefer alamo,
who are also very good when i have used them.

we have never used skip the counter so cant say regards skipping counter.

also remember there is not as much choice as you think.

– Avis owns Budget, Zipcar and Payless
– Hertz owns Dollar and Thrifty
– Enterprise owns Alamo and National
– Advantage owns E-Z Rent-A-Car

To my knowledge dollar/thrifty share their garage and cars and hertz have their own cars. I have a suspicion that dollar/thrifty gets hertz higher mileage cars although some report new cars to.

I used dollar in August and on arrival there were no premium cars available. While waiting they tried to get me to take a Nissan rouge, however 2 premiums came in, a Dodge Charger with 36000 miles and a Chevy Impala with 17800 miles which I took. The charger looked tired and had lots of scrapes.

The Impala was nice, drove well and had no issues with being overcharged so it's not all bad with dollar.

I'm sure hertz you may have a better choice and lower mileage cars.
