We often change our mind en route where we’re going too so that’s where having the car helps.

I am a tad stunned at 81 minutes having stayed at POFQ certainly NEVER EVER spent that long on a bus going anywhere

I am pleased to hear that, 81 minutes did seem an awful long time 😀. We stayed at AoA on our last visit, which is one of the furthest out resorts, and I can't remember being more than around 30 mins or so on a bus.

I was in POR last week and from the North depot (the second stop) it was about 15 mins to most parks. Maybe 5 mins more to AK). Epcot seemed the closest.

TWiz suggests:

Car / Taxi 14 minutes
Bus: POR to MK then monorail to GF 44 minutes
Bus: POR to HS then bus to GF 47 minutes

It's the double journey that adds to the problem and the transfer time of course.

Cheers for the replies, folks. We were up at daft o'clock (still!...) so took the "scenic" bus to Epcot, monorail to TC, then monorail to GF. Had we not had the luxury of being up early, I'd have just hopped in the car.
Whilst it was a bit of a journey, glad we did it, because the boat from GF to MK after breakfast was a lovely journey, which we'd have missed had we used the car

Pleased it worked out for you. Hope you enjoyed the breakfast 😀. I like the boat ride between MK and GF too, sometimes it is nice to just sit and look around at the scenery instead of rushing off in the car. Enjoy the rest of your trip 😀
