Thanks for this thread.

We have a Minivan booked for early September, as this is what we have always booked. Old habits die hard!

Our party used to be 2 adults and 3 kids but now it is more like 5 adults!

So the price for our Minivan has dropped by about £100, but for the same money as our original booking I can move up to Standard SUV or for £1 more can have a Premium SUV.

What would you do with 5 adults?

Mmm, difficult. I don't like Minivans but my goodness they do what they were intended for. Loads of room etc.

To me 5 adults need plenty of room. That to me is more important than a better spec vehicle but less room. Can't stand being cramped.

Do Virgin Atlantic / Virgin holidays only book in full weeks to a max of 3 weeks? I can never get a price as always need a car for about 23 or 24 days 😟

I have a 2 day reservation pre cruise and a 3 week one thereafter. However there is a glitch on their website and more than 3 weeks you have to ring up.

Thanks for the prompt. Alamo Brits is still ridiculous for our dates but Netflights is more reasonable than I’ve seen.

I've just changed our car hire again theprough Costco as our next 3trips if we don't pick up at the airport we save £175 in airport pick up charges our friends are happy to pick us up and take us to the local Alamo depo which has no pick up tax and we can still pre pay fule full cover and return to airport with no charges if we book from here

Thank you for this, the car is the only thing we haven’t booked yet. Alamo Brits and Netflights are now similar prices for our dates, but Brits includes the 2nd driver (and £3 cheaper,) we can then choose when we arrive if we return full or empty.

In the past we’ve always gone for a compact (and occasionally had good upgrades, the Mustang 10 years ago was a highlight.) Now we are 3, so I’ve been looking at a intermediate, now £286, but actually we could get a full-size for £310, which I think is a good price.

Our dates are 16th to 30th Sept.

Thanks Tom, I’ve just checked ours for 3/9 and it’s come down by £33 so I’ve amended it.

Our dates have dropped by £30. Is it a case of booking the new price and then cancelling the original booking on the website?
