So after all the foreplay it’s time for the main event.

THYME PREMIER INN GATWICK NORTH

We initially had this booked for 7.30pm but having only taken us 5 minutes to do Twilight Check In we changed the time to 6.15pm once we had checked in at the Premier Inn.

It was incredibly busy and reminded me of the bar area in a Haven Holiday place. It was full of OAP’s so was half expecting some bingo in between courses.

The girls and Kelly had already perused the menu beforehand but it was all new to me.

Lily had a minor meltdown about menu choices. Five minutes into the first meal of the holiday and the first strop and tears. Nice.

The server seemed to struggle at times to understand us which was a bit concerning as we hadn’t even left the country yet.

I’m not a big drinker but decided to relax and get a Corona.

Kelly had a lime and soda

Lily a milk and Evie water.

To start, Kelly and Evie both went for Quesadillas. Both opted without Jalapeños. The server queried that it would then both just come with red chilli. This wasn’t mentioned on the menu to which he replied “oh yeah”.

Lily went old school to join in with all the OAP’s and had a prawn cocktail. She said the prawns were big and juicy. She enjoyed it and has decided on a blue rinse hair do for the morning as well.

I really struggled with the menu as I really wanted to avoid anything like ribs, wings burgers etc that I’m going to be eating ad nauseum over the next 3 weeks. I went for the Lamb Koftas. These were fine and not a bad starter.

For mains, Kelly and Evie matched up again with the BBQ Chicken and Bacon Melt. Fairly standard but they both enjoyed it.

Lily had a double cheeseburger that she barely touched. I had some and again it was fine.

She also had the majority of the onion rings we got to share. These were pretty average.

Like I said I wanted something different so went for the Mexican Chicken burger. Not something I would usually go for.

This is the menu picture.

This is the reality

Pretty average and tasteless to be honest.

We decided to skip dessert as we didn’t really need them.

So overal it was ok. It did a job and was nothing more or less than I expected. £83 though

So possibly I might have the V-Room report tomorrow but I will just play it by ear.

Really pleased to have finally started
