We always used to eat as a family at the table but now with just the 3 of us and shifts we all eat on our own in front of the tv. I eat at 5 , DS gets home about 6.30, eats about 7 and Dd gets home home about 8.15 and warms her tea up then ☹

Always at the table, even if I'm just eating by myself.

We had a tiny house for years with no space for a table so had TV dinners with a folding table. DH hated it. Now we have a bigger house and a dining table we eat at the table unless DH is working lates (just us two) and then I tend to eat on my lap watching telly.
Having started eating at the table when together I love it, we chat more, we mull things over, we laugh more. I was going to put a TV in the kitchen/diner but now we have Alexa to play music quietly in the background as I love being social with the DH and would miss it terribly if we let old habits creep back in.

We mostly eat on the sofa. I’m actually more comfortable on the sofa than at the table.
If we have anyone over we will eat at the table - if it’s us cooking. If it’s a takeaway then I will always ask where people prefer to sit. We have some dinners though that we always eat at the table and they’re usually on a Sunday - Roast, steak pie, toad in the hole etc. No particular reason actually!

I think its a good idea when you have children to eat together. It gives you a chance to catch up with the days events. etc. NO PHONES at the table.
