For 1 night only...

So if you were going to spend one night only in a Disney or Universal hotel for a special treat, say for a 40th Birthday , Where would you stay?

Depending on your budget, I'd say AKL (Savannah room) or HRH - both always seem to have fab reviews & personally if you're going to stay onsite for just one night I'd want something a bit better than say a value, something to you know, extra special...

Hard Rock Hotel por favor!
I love driving up the driveway past the guitar fountains and have the staff fall over themselves to open your door to let you out. Rock star!
and FOLP over two days too (felt like more of a Rock Star)
Taking the water taxi to the park or strolling through the gardens to City Walk' It's a 10min stroll or an hour depending on how drunk you are

Even the standard rooms are lovely.

Are you able to stretch to 2 nights? I don't think you'd see the benefit of staying one night. 3pm or 4pm check in and 11am or 12pm checkout. Not really getting much time at the resort.

Yes the Universal hotels will let you do that, many people on here have checked in really early to make the most of the onsite benefits

We are holidaying 2 weeks in a AOA villa next year but have booked one night at HRH and for my actual 40th birthday one night at POR in a Royal room. I'm very excited about both but I think the night at Disney is the one I am really looking forward too. I'm hoping to make 2 days out of both stays to make use of the full benefit of staying onsite.

For 1 night I'd probably do a Universal hotel for the FOTL passes. I don't think you really get the full benefit of a resort staying for just the one night especially if you are also going to be at the parks.

If you want a Disney resort I'd probably recommend the Beach Club for the lovely pool or AKL so you can enjoy the animals.

Disney and Universal will both allow early check in but you have to be prepared not to have access to your room until late afternoon.

We've stayed onsite at Universal every single trip and love it. The FOTL benefits are great. Of the 3 hotels our favorite is Portofino Bay.

However, I'm going to go against the grain here and say staying onsite at Disney IS totally worth it for one night. We stayed two separate nights at 2 Disney hotels on this trip. On one night we stayed at the Contemporary, we checked in before 8am and our room was ready. We didn't access it though until after lunch as we had an early ADR at Crystal Palace. We loved the Contemporary. Our room was in the tower with a Magic Kingdom fireworks view and that experience was just amazing. We loved it so much we've booked for 5 nights next year. I will be including lots of photos in my tripppie which I'm currently writing. If you want me to send you think when it's finished PM me.

Our second stay was at AKL and I really expected to be wowed by this. I wasn't. I did lke it - I just wasn't blown away by it. We had a savvanah view room and the view was amazing. The room itself less so. TBH I think we had been totally spoiled by our stay at the CR. We checked into AKL at around 10.30 and again our room was ready for us.
