OKW vs POR
Thought I had it all sorted and just getting ready to book OKW and then a private villa when DH says, 'oh, is it a studio/villa we are staying in at Disney too? I thought it would have been more like a hotel?! '
Aaaaarggh! So, would you OKW it with free DDP or POR it and upgrade to DDP? Not much difference in the cost. We are me, DH, DD (12) and DS (8). Love how he leaves it all to me to sort and then throws a spanner in the works at the last minute! |

We've booked POR preferred room with upgraded DDP.
Preferred room was like £70 extra which was expensive but with my back and hip info enough walking in the parks, I want to make sure I'm close to bus stops and boat docks etc! Also the food court too when I send hubby to get me a drink lol xx

We had the same dilemma but with pofq and okw. We've decided to give okw a try this time because the balcony really appealed to us. I love pofq but I hope I don't miss it too much, I'll have to go and visit to get my Elliot Dyson fix

He's a jazz singer who plays in the bar at the French quarter some nights. Both times we've stayed there he's been there, so he's one of our holiday traditions

POR is a lovely resort and I have not stayed at OKW but going to this August. I have however stayed at SSR which is a similar resort to OKW
POR is not like a hotel either in that it is made up of seperate buildings with external walkways just like OKW , it does have lovely theming though With OKW you will get a balcony , larger room and if studio , microwave , toaster and larger fridge ,sink etc . Very handy for breakfasts in the morning. They do not have a food court , but do have a table service restaurant which POR does not have. It is is only 10 mins on bus to Dtd I believe with more options for quick service meals Debs |

there isn't much difference between the rooms in the resorts. they are both pretty 'non-hotel like' with external corridors and lots of different blocks or rooms. the old key west rooms are slightly bigger with fridge, toaster and microwave. the port orleans room does have a fridge and coffee maker though.
old key west doesn't have a food court, so if you are wanting a quick meal, you would have to go somewhere else. it only takes 10 minutes on the bus to downtown disney, but it takes about half an hour or more to get back because you stop at typhoon lagoon as well.
