You just cant take it through security, once cleared you can buy water from the shops air side. These items have been screened and deemed safe.

You would not be able to take a 500ml bottle of water for example through security so drink before you go through and then buy some more!

Just as a side note... last time I flew I took an apple in my hand luggage... ate it on the plane, disposed of the core on plane... the sniffer dog still could still smell it though while we were waiting in the luggage hall... I felt like a drug smuggler

Just as I've said a number of times on here when people say they deliberately don't declare food in the hold luggage. Those cute little beagles are trained to sniff out more than drugs.
