BEST indirect flight airline from South of UK to MCO

as indirect flights seem to be cheaper, we might have to be disloyal to V.A. for our next trip and consider indirect flights.

We will be travelling from Southern England, so the airports within easy access to us are, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton, Heathrow, Gatwick and other London airports.

we are not bothered about frills etc, we just want our bums on a seat to fly us to see Mickey and crew.

We want to fly into MCO to make use of the Disney Magical Express transport to our resort hotel.

As indirect will involve a stop en route, we would rather have an earlier 1st flight to not make the day drag on late into an evening.

Who have people used from the South of England and where did you stop off en route and how long was the time in between both flights?

many thanks

We have flown indirect once before this was from Gatwick but into Tampa. We flew direct with BA and on the way home flew Tampa - Miami - Heathrow.

Tampa is only a 1 1/2hr drive to the villa we stayed in which was a few minutes away from Disney (Formosa Gardens). We found the stop off on way home was ok, we was hardly in the air before coming down again, Miami was ok for a wonder round. Think the stop over was around 1hr 30.

We have flown BA a few times to Florida and with business in Europe and have always found them quite good.

We have flown with Air Canada but we went to Tampa from Heathrow via Toronto. They do fly to MCO from Toronto too but we spent one night in Clearwater.

We spent about 3-4 hours in Toronto but I am sure there are quicker layovers. We cleared US customs in Toronto and did not have to collect our luggage. It was very easy.

Aer Lingus will probably fly from most of your local regional airports via Dublin.

From 2022 Tui will be flying direct with Dreamliner from Bristol to Orlando Melbourne International Airport,
which is approx 1hr 30 or just over to Disney.. No news on departure days yet but should be released around July/August time..
I have looked at Brs/Dub/Orl, and times going out ok but a very long layover on the return, and the price

Had a great experience with AA (BA codeshare) via Philly and would highly recommend both AA and Philly as a transit airport.

Poor experience with Delta (Virgin codeshare) via Atlanta. Virgin legs were fine, but internal Delta legs were poor customer service/handling, especially outbound. Atlanta airport was ok to transit through.

We have flown Heathrow - Detroit - Orlando then on the way back - Orlando - Atlanta - Heathrow with Delta all worked out really well, and as you will clear US immigration on your first flight when you arrive into Orlando you just have to collect bags and head to see Mickey!

If travelling indirect via a US airport i would give your self a minimum of 3hours to connect. You will have to clear immigration, claim any baggage, possibly change terminal, go through security again. In Detroit this process to us about 45 mins as there are not many international flights to contend with at immigration, but at New York or Atlanta I guess this can take a lot longer.

Flights with Aer Lingus would be another good option.

You can normally fly from your local airport, and you clear US immigration in Dublin, so when you arrive into Orlando you are treated as a domestic flight so you can just collect bags and be on your way.

BA holidays normally offer the Aer Lingus flights so you can get it as a package via them.
