How does anyone ever find good prices for VA?

Whenever we need flights, Virgin always comes out way more expensive for us than BA. So many people fly with Virgin though that it leaves me wondering why - is there something I'm doing wrong?
This is what I came up with this morning. If anyone can find anything better I'm open to suggestions (not a tortuous indirect route though as only a short trip)

Some are brand driven, not price driven

Have you tried through netflights ? We got virgin but a lot cheaper and even virgin couldn’t beat the price themselves .

Why are you looking for outbound and return within 4 days of each other? That may be a factor.

You're also looking at returning the very last weekend of school holidays, would guess that's having an impact.

Can you not extend it slightly so you fly back when kids have gone back to school? Return flight would be cheaper then. Personally, it's a long way to go for 4 nights , but each to their own.

I'd recommend looking through other sites that are protected like Travel Bag, Net Flights etc rather than directly through Virgin as they are always more expensive through their own site.

We often fly virgin but rarely book direct through them. Netflights or travelbag are often much cheaper and who we usually use, BA never comes up cheaper for us for some reason!

A lot of people use VA due to their rewards scheme. Otherwise, they are often very expensive ( certainly from Manchester).
