Absolutely gutted - Christmas meal cancelled

As some of you might already know I have family around at Christmas and charge them a nominal amount to cover my overheads (£29.95 each adult) which also includes a glass of wine (not Merlot Oyster Bay), but this year I have had to cancel which is really disappointing because I've already bought a frozen turkey for £12 as part of the Tesco clubcard deal. I've however, offered to bring a Christmas dinner to me elderly mother but unfortunately I can't charge her the full £29.95 (I will do it for £19.95).

I do feel gutted that I will lose out financially this Christmas (I'm not at all bothered about not seeing them).

I guess worse things happen in life

Wonder what Mrs MH Snr will be more happy about? Not having to listen to you droning on or saving £29.95? Win win ching ching

MH - must of us know that you live a caring existence so why not cook up th3 meal and take it around to those who would otherwise miss out?

You could give it away for nothing !

Did I just hear the sound of MH chocking?

Did you not get a deposit off them ? I think you are still cooking the meal and it would be available if they turned up, just because they have been told not to come by the government is not your fault and as such you could happily keep their money and they could look to their insurance to recover the expenses.
Alternatively as the savvy business man you are , you will have taken out pandemic insurance and will be able to recover your loses from that.
Failing that have you considered offering it as a takeaway offering , which actually could get you more money as you could charge a delivery fee with a premium for a timed delivery slot.

Oh no poor Mrs MH having to put up with you all day alone, I hope your son and his GF will be there or she might stick her head in the oven instead of the turkey! 😩

I nearly fell of the chair at this one MH
Surely you wont let this £12 turkey go to waste. Why would you not cook it all up and get the family to come to you and collect their dinner, charge em all £20 per dinner. Oh, you would have to buy some 'cheap' dinner plates and not to use your own good ones for a takeaway.

Mrs MH will have a lovely peaceful afternoon with hardly any washing up, oh you will do that for her whilst she puts her feet up
