BA booking for after 31 August 2021
It looks increasingly likely that we will have to change our booking again from May. We are thinking about changing to October. However I see that BA are not offering their feee cancellation/amendment to bookings made for flights returning after 31 August 2021. I’m not sure whether to change and hope that if we still can’t go by October BA will extend their offer or at least offer a voucher.
Has anyone else amended their booking to after August 2021 and have you been offered the free cancellation or are you hoping that BA will refund /amend etc Thanks all Natalie

We are in a similar situation and have a booking for May. I was looking at August but not sure whether that is too soon and if we should delay until October.

As far as I am aware BA have not extended their free cancellation/ amendment policy yet.

They may extend it in due course. In the meantime I would make it a package by booking one night in the airport hotel, then it is deposit only.

We had April/May, moved it to Aug/Sept.
BA have been excellent throughout the pandemic, changing their policies to cover as many scenarios as possible. We have changed at least 6 times since last March with various bookings. Got another booking for Nov/Dec too, will be moving my March 2021 Lanzarote booking to March 2022 Orlando too. |

Thanks everyone. I have to say BA have been really good. Initially we had flights only booked for November. They were cancelled so we changed to May and added a car so we had a package and just paid the deposit but had the comfort of the free amendment/cancellation. Just a bit worried that if we rebook now for October there is no longer that protection. BA have acted really well and I would hope if we still can’t go they would allow us to move the booking again but we are a family of six and the deposit is still more than I would want to lose. It’s so hard isn’t it. I also think that if we wait until everything opens up prices may rocket.

Same concern here. I called the executive club this morning to ask this very question.
The answer sadly was it has not been extended yet and the £150pp change fee would apply for bookings departing after 31st Aug 2021. Really hoping BA extend this soon. Some great prices just now but just too risky. |

If its a package you have many more rights under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangement Regulations- so if they cannot get you there and will not let you board the plane as you cannot get in the country you are due a refund.
Also see CMA guidance on airline failure to refund where it is impossible to travel. They are currently investigating and may threaten airlines with prosecution. It is another common Dibb myth as I call them that if you cannot get on the flight and a flight goes, the airline can simply walk away with your money. You may ultimately have to take them to court or wait for the CMA to do something but it is far from clear that this is the case.

How many amends are you permitted under the BA policy?
