Vegas Hotel - MGM Grand or Luxor?

It's our first time in Vegas next month and I'm about to book our hotel. We originally had the Bellagio booked because we found an amazing deal but it's too expensive now for our new dates.

I think I've narrowed it down to Luxor or MGM Grand. Has anyone stayed at either and can give me some pros and cons?

For info we're a couple in our late twenties, staying for 6 nights and won't have a car. We will arrive on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanks

Haven't stayed at either but been twice. I would choose the MGM based on location. Its more "central" there is a lot of walking in Vegas . Its amazing.

Definitely mgm grand over the Luxor.
Out of all the Vegas strip hotels the MGM is the one we’ve returned to the most.

Stayed in MGM 11 yrs ago
Loved the location
The Luxor just a bit further out.
It is actually huge and the strip is long.
MGM is just opposite the New York Hotel if u fancy a go on the roller coaster

I'd say MGM for sure as it has more to offer. The Luxor has better theming, but is close by via foot and monorail if you want to pay a visit.

Another vote for MGM. Just make sure to stay in at least a Grand room, the West Wing rooms are tiny.

But in terms of price, don't forget to check for vouchers on Vegas hotels if you haven't already, you can often get deep discounts or free dining offers on them. I haven't been in a few years, but used to get great rates through Smarter Vegas. Just checked quickly and MGM Resorts are running dining credits at most of their properties right now. It's $50 per night for the MGM itself.

Thanks everyone. Glad I asked - was very close to booking Luxor this morning before my OH suggested MGM instead!

Are you in Vegas at the end of November by any chance. If so I apologise as we have a large conference there (I’ll be there for that). I stayed at the Bellagio a couple of years ago and it was lovely. I haven’t stayed at the MGM - just been to the conference events there - it’s huge and I didn’t particularly like it’s location on the strip - I prefer further up, but everyone is different and I’m really basing it on where I need to be usually for the conference. Hope you have fun wherever you stay.

MGM over the Luxor but if I went back I’d probably want to stay further up the strip more towards the Venetian. MGM is an amazing hotel though.
