HAve had oil now for over 10 years - its been cheaper consistently than gas or oil.. The key thing is that your boiler is efficient we use a modern rayburn that can get to cook temp in 20mins and heats a full pressured hot tank in about 40mins..

The other thing is I have found it better to avoid brokers like boilerjuice unless they really are undercutting the price you can get(check with the drivers they know from their tkts what direct customers are paying - often boilerjuice start with a cheap price but dont follow the drops later on).. At the moment oil is so cheap you can actually hedge it at the current price for a few years if you have a good relationship with your local supplier..

Key thing is make sure the house and boiler are efficient -- Even in Winter we need less than 1 hour oil burn for cooking (though the rayburn can actually be at cooking temp for several hours)... The boiler side of the rayburn again is probably only actually burning for less than 20mins a day.

We have an electronic measuring system but to be honest all you have to do is look in the tank .. Make sure the tanks bunded or some suppliers wont come out to you. And make sure it big enough for the job..
