Force FX lightsabre - getting one home

Really (like *really*) tempted by one of these from Star Wars Launch Bay (the $169 Skywalker) - has anyone from the UK got one home?
Box surely too big for hand luggage?
Could de-box and possibly fit diagonally in a case, wrapped in towels/clothes, but not confident it wouldn't get mashed.
Disney will ship it, but at $60...

My daughter was going to get one but thought the same so gave up on the idea.

We bought a Lucius Malfoy cane wand on our last trip in Universal and when we got back to the villa we found that it was too big to fit in the case in its box, we toyed with the idea of taking it out and just putting it in the case but it would probably have been broken on the way home. So we bought a massive hold-all from Walmart for a tenner, stuck some yoga mats and blocks in there, along with the cane wand in its box and when we got to Downtown Disney check-in we said it was our sport equipment, you are allowed an extra bag on Virgin for this, and they didn't question or check the contents, they just put a label on it and off it went. So it might cost you a little extra to bring it back but at least it will come back in one piece if you try this.
