Avis/ba - credit card?

Hi

We have booked a fly drive through BA. We have all insurances covered and just wondered about the credit card aspect. Do we need one? We did this before with virgin and never needed to show the credit card as it was part of a package. If we do need to show a credit card how much do they charge to it? Just want to be fully armed so I can make sure there is enough available balance on it. I have heard conflicting stories in that they don't charge anything to it, just take a copy but some have said they pre authorise the card.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thank you

I've heard either $100 or $200 hold placed on a card. You will need to show a card though. If you have visa debit that will be fine.

We used a Visa debit card last year with Avis on a BA holiday booking. I don't recollect any hold at all that was put on the card.

Never had any hold with Avis on credit or debit card. You will need to show it and need to add it via your Avis preferred booking otherwise you will be directed to the kiosk in the garage. If you are not a preferred member then you will have to show it when you go to the desk in the terminal building.

So glad you said that, just realised all the cc's are in my name so will need to be a debit card. I don't want to drive over there, it scares me lol. Will probably get added as an additional driver just in case
