Mustang hard top

Hi

I want to hire a mustang hard top as don't like convertibles so was wondering what class I have to choose when hiring from car hire companies

Do I still need to book a convertible and just ask for a hardtop or chose a different class

The hard top Mustang falls under the standard sport category along with the Challenger and Camaro. Unfortunately its a lot more $$$$$$ than the convertible range for some reason.

I think the Mustang convertible benefits from being the cheapest decent size convertible the US rental fleets can buy, after the demise of the awful Chrysler 200 convertible a couple of years ago.

IMO you'd be mad to pay all the extra for the hardtop version in Florida of all places!

I'm assuming the hard-top is seldom wanted and hence the premium price.

Mustang convertible with the top kept up... is absolutely not an issue IMO. At least you have the option to lower it if you want to

Doesn't look as nice as the hard-top though

However we exchanged out for a convertible Camero 7 days in,Mustang easier to live with,Camero superior in every aspect as a drivers car but with smaller boot and cabin but would pick 100% of time as so much fun when you press loud pedal.

If we could get our bags in one I'd give it a go!

Most of the convertibles have the cooking V6 or the 4cyl ecoboost engines, not really "muscle car" territory.
And most of the Hard tops are of the full fat eco unfriendly 5ltr V8 c/w the most useless but fun accessory, line locks on the front brakes. Allows you to fill Wallmart car park with tyre smoke without moving forward.
Hence you pay extra for the V8 spec.

However, in 2015 my son bagged a V8 Convertable, a rare beast with Alamo.

These are Mustangs of course.

I assumed the rentals only stocked the smaller engines.

Nice to have something a bit more tasty on a road trip.
