Join the BA executive club (no cost) they often offer early deals and I booked last weekend and they let me book my seats straight away on line for no extra cost. Car hire has always been cheaper through them if you book with your flight.

I always book direct whether it’s hotels, flights etc. I find 3rd party sites often don’t show the correct fares, have the same rooms and make it difficult to compare. Also it’s not usually cheaper as companies offer the cheapest prices themselves

Plus if something goes wrong then I’d rather deal direct far easier.

You do not get free seat selection just by joining the exec club. Unless you are a high up member, travelling with an infant or book an expensive flex ticket then you have to pay until check in.

Edit to add, or travelling in first!

Flights always direct with airline
Hotels and car hire via Quidco for best discount and either ebooker or expedia whichever has the best price.

For BA either direct or using the codeshare via American Airlines direct.

Whenever I book anything, I try to go direct to the provider.

I use search engines extensively when looking for flights, hotels, attraction tickets or anything else, as this is imho the simplest and fastest way to find what I want whilst comparing , say various hotels against each other.

When I find what I want, I then try a direct approach. Often I find a better rate on that site. If I do not, then I try direct contact via email, pointing out where I have found the better deal on their own product. All I want is for them to match it, which often they do. Thus they pay no commission to that third party.

Airlines, I try similar. I also look at trying through their partners, I.e although I have flow many times to and from various US cities on Virgin Atl, very, very rarely have Ibooked with Virgin Atl as they are traditionally extortionate. Most times, I have booked direct through Delta, who in any case own 49% of them.

In you case, I would certainly go direct to BA. They are in my good books at the moment as they have refunded my flights for 30 March- 11 April with no hassle. Due to this, they are on my ‘approved list’ for future bookings, a list that certain operators have been removed from in the past few weeks as I have monitored the posts of other DIBBERS.
