Mobile Polite Pig

So Im in the midst of planning our trip and I'd quite like to try the polite pig as somewhere different that we havent tried before. We have qsddp and i know its a qs credit.

Read on here and some other reviews that say they ask for a tip upfront when you order your food.

Not going to get into an argument around tipping ethics in general but wondered if anyone had declined to tip up front? I have no issue with tipping in a qs place if the service warrants it but key for me is the service part.

I'm basically wondering if I can politely decline to tip at the till until after I have received the service to decide whether it warrants a tip or not?

We do tip in WPE if the service is good but generally a couple of $ and not what we would tip in a full service restaurant.

Yes you can decline to tip until you feel happy to do so. I also disagree with tipping upfront when you pay and will not be doing it either.

Apparently they've started asking when you order and pay!

I've read a few reviews where they ask for the tip up front at the till when ordering/paying which I think is very odd!

Last October we went twice on the QSDP, first time they never asked, second time they did ask, which kind of threw me as wasn't expecting it, declined though which didn't cause any issues, as if did want to tip would do it at the end of the meal.

I never knew this and again I don't want to get a tipping thread locked.

But if it's quick service what do they do to merit a tip? Surely if you have decided what you want on your own. Then paid at a till for it then all that's left is for it to be delivered to you?

If I am wrong please let me know. If I'm not then I wouldn't tip at all for that.

I was asked for a tip upfront at the till. I just replied “not at the moment thank you” and got a sour look from the cashier. The service consisted of someone walking about five steps from the kitchen to my table and plonking down my meal. I didn’t tip. I have tipped at Wolfgang Puck Express on occasion when the service has been great but at a QS place normally I would not expect to tip or be asked for one.
