SatNav - US map updates?

I've been sent a mail by Garmin offering US maps for £26 instead of £34.99. I've got a satnav with US maps from 2014 but wondered if it was worth getting the updated version. Do US roads change as much as UK ones?

I've also taken the satnav offer via DFCH as I'm not sure if my satnav will still work in the USA after a map mishap (long story). Does anyone know if the 'loan' device has up to date maps?

I'm weighing my options as DFCH one costs £15 delivery, which is half the cost of new maps for my device. I am thinking I could update mine and cancel the loan one.

No major changes for your 2014 ones... if it was me, i would stick to the 2014 maps and just use that.

I am still using 2011 maps!

We did visit a car lot that was meant to be Best Way, and last year it didn't know what was going on around Epcot - but that might have been me - I don't listen to Say Nav or the wife, but Sat Nav works better as doesn't get in a huff with me.

Er...so to the point - old maps are good enough...if there are new roads, they'll still get you there eventually.

Always worth putting a free app on your phone too, like NavMii, that provides up to date offline maps for free. No need for internet while you're there, up to date and a great backup should things go wrong like the "map mishap" you spoke of.
