Disney Dining Plan Waiting List

As per "Coaster Queen's" recommendation on the rumours thread: There should be a thread with everyone on the 'Disney Dining Plan Waiting List'. I think there is a lot of us

I'm waiting with baited breath for any new dining plan offers. My DW, our 2 girls and I have been 4 times previously, all with DDP. Really would make me reconsider if there was nothing on offer.

Id like it to come back. But would need to do cost benefit to it to work out if it would actually save me money.

As most people want it back as remember it was "free" but would those people pay high dollar for it.

I would love for TIW to return. Can't see that happening.

Quite honestly, we don't think it'll return this year - or at least, not while the 50th anniversary is going on. Disney offered it to 'lure' people in. They don't need to do that now with every single room on site booked for almost the entire year!
A DVC CM also suggested that they probably won't bring it back until ALL the restaurants are back open again, and they're a long way from that unfortunately.

Are they? I thought most were open by now?

We have paid for the DDP in the past and got excellent value from it, as we tend to do a lot of Signatures, and max out our snack credits at Food and Wine. We’ve done a ‘dummy plan’ of what we might eat, and it comes up way more expensive than the DDP.

I know ‘free’ DDP is unlikely but I am still hoping the paid-for version makes a reappearance at some point.

I've just checked AllEars and yes, more have re-opened. There are still a few signatures closed (which is what the CM told me), but there are also several which are only open a few days a week.

I have only paid for DDP twice - once was a paid upgrade from QSDP on a booking which included free dining, and the second time was because the offer was to pay for dining and then get a free flight. In the event we got two free flights (out of the 3 of us) and upgraded from a moderate room to a suite at AoA (if we'd had free dining for the moderate, we would have lost it transferring to AoA because it's a value (even though it added £1,000 to the cost of the holiday).

We're staying with our DVC points this time and would have had to have paid for the DDP (had it been available) albeit we do get a bit of discount as DVC members. Even then, you only come out ahead if you get the DDP rather than the QSDP and eat at the more pricy table service. I'm going to miss getting free alcohol even with QSDP meals this time, as well as our usual 'free' Be our Guest breakfast.

At the end of the day, it's difficult to make the DDP pay, especially when you don't want to eat because it's too hot. Many times I've been too full to stuff a table service dessert into me, and it is a lot cheaper to buy just what you want/share/take your own soft drinks and water with you.
