It's worth asking when college ends as my daughter finished year 12 in early July last year so you might have a few extra weeks before it's full on summer holidays. That said US schools are in full swing by June/July so unlikely to make much difference to how busy it is.

"or are out in public during the first five days of an exclusion, will face a fixed penalty notice".

Am I misreading, or are they suggesting any child excluded from school needs to be locked up in their house?! Lol
There really are no words!

Ds was excluded from school back in yr 8. He had to remain in our home during school hours and was not allowed to be out and about.

Personally I have no problem with this. They should be in school and are being punished so shouldn't be free to go shopping/wander around during school hours.

They are being excluded for a reason. You don't then want them causing havoc out of school too.

I don't think children should be taken out of school to save money on holidays. My reasons for this are mostly jealousy as I can't do this with my wife because she's a teacher 😁

I love Google and it's marketing algorithms.

Read through the whole of this piece about how the gov was planning on making life harder for kids (and families) in school, and at the bottom, Google tacked on an advert for "have you considered private schooling"?

Completely understandable they're being punished, but what if the parent needs to go out. Surely it's better to have the child with you than leave them unattended?

In the real world this isn’t what is going to happen. Parent at work, child goes out. It’s not an extra holiday it’s supposed to be a punishment. If the child needs to go out with a parent for something urgent then school should be informed.
