F1 Student Visa and Florida Vacations

Hi everyone,

my daughter studies full time at university in the States and therefore has an F1 student visa. As we are vacationing in Florida this year, does anyone know if she is able to enter the States using her visa (obviously cant apply for an ESTA) or would she need any other paperwork?

You can only enter on the visa for the purpose for which it was issued. So F1 you can only enter to study as I understand it. You can hold 2 visas at the same time (for different purposes) are you sure she can't have an ESTA and an F1?

All it really says is that they can't enter the US more than 30 days before the period of study, I'd speak to the sponsor or the embassy to clarify for re entry info.

My DS is there on a J1 work visa and I know he can enter a week before work starts and stay in the US on it for a month after the end of his contract, that's pretty much all it tells us though, nothing at all about re entry during that time.
