CDG car hire

EasyJet have cancelled our September flight and changing the Disney part would be £800 more for our 2 rooms. Decided to go the day before and have booked Davy Crockett as we’re 4 adults, a 9 month old and all the paraphernalia that goes with a 9 month old! Have decided on a car so we can visit Val d’Europe and get provisions etc and to be honest cost wise Davy Crockett was cheaper than places at Val d’Europe and saves us trying to do the train with everything and everyone the next day after our original R/S transport booking. Has anyone hired a car before and have any hints/tips/money saving ideas?

I'd suggest trying to book your car ASAP if you can. There's a shortage of hire cars at the moment as many of the hire car companies sold a lot of their fleet off during the pandemic to generate cash.

I just returned from Dublin where a 3 day car hire cost me £750, and it was for an old Corsa with no built in GPS or USB ports and no aircon.

Hopefully the situation isn't as bad in France - but I almost fell of my chair when I saw the price in Dublin...

Yes we hired at europcar - rude, slow and terrible service! Nice electric vehicle though! SIXT seemed to be the most efficient so will probably try them next time instead!

I hired a car many years ago at CDG. The satnav wouldn't kick in due to the concrete structures and only did when we cleared the building. However, as soon as we emerged in the open we were straight onto the motorways, with an instant choice to make. Fortunately we picked the right one, confirmed when tomtom decided to work 🤣.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like all change again as EasyJet have cancelled the flights we changed to and it will be even more expensive as another hotel and extra days car hire are required. If only I could change the Disney bit I would but it’s 100s of pounds more for any sort of change of dates. So angry and frustrated.

Have you looked for any other operator flights? I know it's annoying, cos the transport prices have probably gone up from when you first booked. So frustrating! If you're happy driving, is there any way to maybe use a ferry, or Eurotunnel? X

We live in Plymouth. It’s around 6 hours to Folkestone and we will have a 9 month old with us! As Flybe are no more this is our only option. Heathrow is more expensive and I’ve looked at amending our Disney rooms but it’s nearly £800 more. So annoyed.
