What do I pay for on a Disney cruise
Looking at the Disney magic from Dover.
Can’t quite work out what I need to pay for on top? Is it just drinks. It’s very expensive especially compared to others we can go on but we would like to do Disney at least once. Just the extra on top to see if we can swing that amount. |

Soft drinks are included, only alcohol to pay for and if you want specialty coffees from the cafe rather than regular coffee.

Gratuities, shopping, speciality coffees from Cove Cafe, alcoholic drinks / tasting sessions, adult meal in Palo or excursions.
It's only the gratuities that you have to pay, the rest you can choose to live without if you don't want them, there's so much included that you won't miss them, although I thoroughly recommend the chocolate and liquor tasting.

We spent quite a lot in the shop. Obviously not required but it is much more tempting than on a normal cruise line.

It was £4000 for inside cabin for a week. They wanted about £600 gratuity.
It’s priced me out. |

You need to book the day prices are released, usually 18 months in advance. Repeat cruisers get a few days priority and then they are released to the public.

Dcl uses dynamic pricing same as Airlines. They open booking about 18 months in advance. I booked my Seppt 2022 Fjords cruise in March 2021.
On Disney the following are the upcharged optional extras. If you don't do any of these you can literally not have to spend any money once you get on the ship Adult dining Palo Merch shopping Coffee from Cove Cafe Alcohol in bars and restaurants Alcohol tastings Soda/ soft drinks from bars, restaurants and room service Spa Disney port excursions It's a small world baby nursery Art purchase Internet access Hair Salon Bipiddy Bopoddy Boutique Royal Court Tea Photo packages and individual photos Popcorn and other snacks outside theatre |

The prices of the European cruises spiral upwards quite quickly as there is limited availability every year. Some itineraries they only do once a year so you need to book as soon as bookings open to get the best price. Next year when the Dream is in Europe instead of the Magic starting prices seem to have shot up so it will be interesting to see how busy they get.

Are you sure about the gratuities? Suggested amounts on our cruise in February were more like $15 a day per person. I believe only staying in a concierge cabin makes it higher.
The only extras we had were photo package, a few drinks and specialty coffees, and a couple of souvenirs. Luckily I can't drink alcohol anymore anyway. There is far less upselling than other cruises I have been on and no casino. On other ships walking through the atrium can be more like a market with special offers on watches etc every night. Plus regular soft drinks are all included so no drinks packages needed for kids. Even my 16 year old didn't manage to spend more than $50. Alcohol would definitely increase your bill and they don't offer unlimited alcohol packages. The prices are much cheaper than the hotels or parks though. Disney cruises are definitely more expensive than most but for my disabled 19 year old they are priceless. For her the nightly Disney shows, special attention from the same wait staff every night in the different restaurants and chance to see loads of characters are worth every penny. She is even Facebook friends now with our waitress and the two sign language interpreters DCL provided just for her.

The auto gratuities are $13 per person in a cabin per day. This is for the stateroom host, the head server, assistant server and server in the MDR
For me as a solo cruiser that works out at $91 for my 7 night cruise. For a couple it would be $182 for a 7 night cruise. For 3 people it would be $273 for a 7 night cruise. For 4 people it would be $364 for a 7 night cruise. Extra tips not included in the auto gratuities are 18% per item / check at the bars, spa and deck service. |
