Mobile Is this plant dead?

I can’t remember what plant this was, it was definitely a perennial I planted last year and it had beautiful, large red flowers (a common name but I just can’t recall it). Anyway, it looks like there’s no life left in it and I’m going to dig it up...BUT I have been wrong before and not given things a chance to come back around so what do you think? Dead dead or just in hibernation?! (By the way, the green shoots are seeds I chucked down a while a while ago to try and bring some colour back to the area!)

Could it be a geranium? If so, I’ve a few like this which are just showing small green shoots.

Without knowing what it is, it’s hard to say.
My fuschias and Lythrum look like that but will come back up from the base.
I’d leave it another month or so and if there is still no sign of life then it’s most likely dead.

Ooh maybe! Do you think there’s a chance? It was beautiful last year, I’ve just found a pic on my Instagram...

Too early, just wait a few more weeks before discarding it.
Could be Peony, or Dahlia, Geranium, if it comes back it will be worth the wait.

That’s a dahlia and is tender, so probably not survived the Winter.

Was it a chrysanthemum? Beautiful plant.
