Unsure of onsite or offsite Aug 22

We have been before and normally stay onsite.

I am wanting to book for Aug 22 but am wondering whether onsite is worth it, we normally get the free dining plan which I know is not available at the moment.

I would be happy to pay for the dining plan if it became available, but are extra magic hours going to be available then and park hop does anyone know.

Am just trying to weigh up whether onsite will be worth it by Aug 22?

We love the dining plan as we can do lots of character meals. Kids are fussy eaters so we don’t eat at fancy restaurants.

We do park days maybe 12 days out of 14 and love being in the Disney bubble. We would want a hotel with water slide, so if onsite would need to be at least a moderate hotel.

I had the same dilemma having wanted to mainly onsite next year. At the moment the whole time at Disney isn’t worth it. We are doing a split stay as we have on several other trips to get the best of both worlds. It means moving about which some people don’t like but I personally enjoy switching things up. It will for certain be cheaper than just onsite at Disney. We are doing 7 nights at Universal, 5 at Disney and 9 offsite over 21 days. We’ve done more swaps of hotel in the past and it was never an issue.

As far as EMH they are gone for good & been replaced by getting in 30 mins early You can park hop without a Disney stay so no perk there. So that leaves FP+ if/when it returns but rumours on US forums about this being a paid for option, leaving the perks as ... Depends how much being onsite means to you ?

EMH gone? Oh that's rubbish, we always make a so much use of them, they make it so worth it.
And fast pass being paid for... 😔 I'm not sure staying onsite would be worth it now. I love being onsite, the dining plan, 60day fp, emh, buses and just the easiness of it all but if these all go then I'm worried. A post covid world looks very different.

We were meant to be doing 6 nights AKL (standard view room), 6 nights Pop (preferred pool view) Nov/Dec this year.

We weighed up all the options and priced up offsite. We're now doing 10 nights in a 1 bedroom suite with balcony, full washer dryer set, full kitchen, living room etc and then 2 nights Pop preferred room and including a rough estimate of $400 for transport we're still saving over 1k compared to the disney price.

Considering that was no dining plan included it was a no brainer for us.

There was a big stink on a lot of US forums about the 2perks" being removed, Magical express goes at the end of this year! Morning EMH was pretty good but always felt the evening ones were really busy.At this stage paid for FP+ is a rumour but it's one of those rumours that just doesn't go away!
Some people/families will only have ever known onsite, because of Free Dining, we started offsite & I can honestly say that we never had a bad holiday- for the amount of time you actually spend in your resort & even kids- IMO they don't have the expectations that we maybe think they do! DS would have quite happily stayed in the pool for 2 weeks on his first trip & it wouldn't have mattered if it was a Disney pool or not!
From our experience, what you are getting is more room for less money, for somewhere between the cost of a Value & a Mod, I can get a 1 bed suite (Staybridge) with 2 rooms, a sofa bed, full kitchen, laundry & free daily breakfast
