is it really an open ticket? or is it a travel voucher that can be used for a new booking.

An open ticket is the most expensive flexible ticket so i doubt that this is that flexible.

it will also depend on when you booked the original flight - if i want to change cabin or destination i have to pay the extra costs.

It's a travel voucher/credit note but VS have chosen to call them open tickets. This is what they look like online.

It's definitely not this. VS refer to these as fully flexible fares.

We booked VA economy light fares for a budget trip in April 20, and when I tried to ask about rebooking as Economy I was told I could only book the same class of fare. I checked twice and couldn't get them to budge, so I just asked for a refund instead. Now I might book with Air Lingus from Manchester, so it's Virgins loss.

Hmm that's what I'm concerned about, though I may have no choice if my flight isn't cancelled.

I ring up yesterday as they cancelled my trip in June ..they wouldn’t give me an open ticket just a voucher ..or a change of dates ... or a refund ...I chose the refund as we have flights booked for December anyway so can look at tui aer lingus and virgin for next summer once I have my money back hoping there is some kind of competition with prices x

Hi, I have done. Doesn’t state whether it needs to be like for like for bookings made in November 2020 that I can see.
