Baggage with BA

Could I pay for the basic for two tickets and the other two normal as I don’t think we will need more than 2 bags so seems pointless having it on everyone’s tickets?

Doesn’t seem to give the option to do that when I look at booking

If it is one booking you all have to have the same ticket

Yes but you’ll need to split the booking . Not a huge deal as you’ll just link the two PNRs after.
Make sure it’s an adult and child on each booking.

Would we still be able to sit together?

Yes once booked you can link the two bookings, if you do this then BA should seat you together, if your planning on paying for your seats then you can choose where ever you would like to sit.

Just be careful because linking bookings doesn't always work but BA do their best to keep you together - they use the phrase TCP (to complete party) if you hear that mentioned.

Thanks.
I’ve not actually seen anywhere on the booking page to pay for seats together. Or specific seats. Maybe I haven’t gone far enough etc as not booking just yet

We often holiday with friends. We are a couple and they are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. We usually book together but last year to Vancouver, we had separate bookings and we returned to Heathrow during the high winds in Feb (our landing made it onto YouTube, it was so bad ) Anyway, there were lots of delays and although we got home to Glasgow the same day, our friends on a separate booking had to stay a further night at Heathrow.

Regarding the luggage question, you could all book the basic fare and add luggage on, but I think that works out more expensive than booking a fare with luggage, also you would pay per case, per sector, so if you also have a domestic connection, it would add up to quite a lot.

Linking the bookings isn't for seating, It's just so the airport can see your travel party are travelling together. The Plus fare gets to choose seating 24hrs beforehand whereas the HBO fare gets their seats assigned so it'll be really difficult to get seats together.
