Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral

I am literally sobbing while watching this, my heart is breaking for the Queen sat alone at the funeral of her husband of 73 years. I am thinking of all the people who have had to go through this over the last year, it is so sad and wrong... totally wrong. How have we allowed this to happen?

The Royal Family have had to be seen to be no different than any other Family in the UK as to how they conduct themselves at a Funeral regarding numbers, distancing, masks etc.

H.M The Queen amongst all of them will have wanted to be seen to be obeying these rules and for that I commend her.

Then we come to the Rules as they exist. Total insanity but that is a discussion for another day.

It is sad, but the rules need to be obeyed.

At least it’s 30 guests now. When my dad died last year, his funeral at end of March was limited to 7 people and I couldn’t go.

DHs mum died in February. His sister was allowed to sit with their 90 year old dad during the service (she had been in their bubble).

Everyone else had to sit 2m apart in the service even if they lived in the same household.

I thought it was very moving and dignified. The members of the armed forces who lined the grounds during the procession, all socially distant with heads bowed made it poignant.

And very sad for anyone who has lost a loved one this last year and not been able to grieve and say goodbye as they would have liked.

I totally agree, dignified and moving sums it up perfectly. The cap and gloves, the armed forces and bowed heads. And the music was heavenly, beautiful and emotional. It reflected him so well.

The Queen made a tragic spectacle.

I hope she feels the warmth of the hug we are all sending her.

Personally I don't think it's a just rule at all, for HM The Queen or yourself, truly cruel.

Full agree.

So much respect for her. Poor woman.
It's the first time I saw her as old and frail. God save the Queen.
