Ok who will go if USA is still amber?

As I understand it from 17th May we can go to USA. Obviously JB isn’t letting us in yet but if that changes and we didn’t have to quarantine would you now go and what costs would be likely?

Insurance? Can’t imagine any insurer accepting this risk.

Yes (if Biden ends the ban).

But I still have questions.

The Gov webpage says LFTs are acceptable. Does that mean we can use the NHS ones?

Do we have to book a specific 'test to release' PCR for day 5, or is a next day PCR test OK?

The test on day 2, can that be a mail-in PCR?

Considering you will still have to quarantine even if you could get in, which the general public can not, I doubt many would.
If we didn't have to quarantine on arrival in the US then its more than likely the US would be moved to the green list.

What risks. As I understand it this will be down to FCO advice as this is what is written into any policies I have seen. So assuming that FCO allows it, then insurance should be OK?

I work for a large insurer and you should be covered if the FCO allows it. I say should because all policies are different and some depend on when booked etc...

From the Gov site
"Should not" does not mean you cannot go, Government are discouraging travel to Amber countries, but its not illegal after 17th May.

If I can get in and I don’t have to quarantine when I get there I will go. I will also need insurance.
I’llhave to take the extra test of the 5th day to get out of quarantine for work though.
