Anyone confirm if it's true that the Government will announce on 17th May that for Amber countries the following condition will be removed:

"You should not travel to amber list countries or territories for leisure purposes."

If so, I am thinking of booking and taking the testing and quarantine hit on my return.

This would obviously depend on the US allowing entry with no conditions other than maybe proof of 2 vaccine jabs

If US stays on amber, we won’t be able to go. We return to school on day3 after our return, so not an option.
Need it to be green and a yes from President Biden before July, as that’s crunch time with the balance payment. Have everything crossed.

Yea, Amber destinations and flight cancelations go hand in hand.

If its amber and FCO advice is 'do not travel' then Battleface insurance is likely to cover you.

We travelled to Majorca last year, against FCO advice. They provided all medical.cover, inc covid but not cancellation.

So the option is definitely still there to go (if they let us in).

Once Biden allows international visitors they should be on the green list with their infection/vaccination rate. The date for that appears to be at the end of June , that’s why Virgin had cancelled flights until 1st July

If our flight is going we will be on it. But we can easily quarantine both ends as we are retired and villa owners.

We won't do our big family holiday to an amber country tho, that's a totally different situation.
