If in Clearwater for much longer, try Maggie Maes; they have 2 locations; we've tried their other location in Belleair Bluffs down the road; always full of locals.

Or if heading home & you want breakfast, try Papas New York Diner on route 60 nor far from where you hit the intersection with route 19; it's not in the Clearwater Beach area but Clearwater itself; a real proper old fashioned US diner; always full of locals including local cops eating!
In all our visits there (3 trips a year for last 8-9 years with at least 1 visit each trip), don't recall hearing another Brit accent!

Force a visit to Cracker Barrel! There will be no disappointment. Even if you have to drive a ways to find one, just do it. Alternatively, as some have mentioned, Third Watch is quite popular. Perkins and Waffle House are similar chain restaurants too.

I agree with previous posters in that Bob Evans has always been very good as is Perkins and Cracker Barrel. I love CB for its wee gift shop. Its fun to look around and the hash brown casserole is my absolute favourite there.
