More Info on the GotG coaster

Today at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Bob Chapek shared a few more details about the new Guardians of the Galaxy rollercoaster being built in a new building behind the old Universe of Energy building at Epcot. The new coaster will be a "storytelling coaster" - each vehicle will rotate to "direct your eye to the story happening around you".

An image of the vehicle design of this new coaster was also shown:

I suppose it looks a little like the Milano. Maybe.

Bob Chapek also showed a video of a prototype of the coaster in action. Below is a still from that video which gives you an idea of the motion:

The GotG coaster is being built by Vekoma and will be open in time for WDW's 50th anniversary in 2021.

Sounds very similar to the Escape from Gringotts coaster at Universal, no? Smaller ride vehicle, but same movement and same storytelling aspect.

I am surprised the ride vehicle only accommodates 4. Looks like there will be a few linked together, but that seems to suggest a slower loader vs. what will no doubt be heavy demand. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I also thought it sounded similar to Escape from Gringotts. When announcing this, Disney made it sound like it was new innovative system but the concept looks and sounds very similar to Universal's HP coaster.

Yeah, it doesn't look like a high capacity ride. I'm expecting long queues - which is maybe why they are using most of the existing Universe of Energy building to house the queue.
